Strong in Mechanical Engineering and Environmental Technology
The Department of Mechanical Engineering/Environmental Technology (MB/UT) trains the engineers of tomorrow.
Our Bachelor's degree programmes include Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics and Digital Automation, Plastics Engineering, Patent Engineering, Biological and Environmental Process Engineering, and Energy Technology and Energy Efficiency.
In addition, you can specialise in two master's degree programmes: In Innovation-Focused Mechanical Engineering or Environmental Technology, you will deepen your knowledge and set the course for your successful career. This way you are perfectly equipped for the future.
In addition to teaching, research is a central topic at our department. One example of many: Our centre of excellence for combined heat and power. Since 2012, this centre has bundled the research activities and know-how of our department in the area of resource-saving energy production.
Research and teaching form a unity in a special way in our high-tech laboratories. Theoretical and application-oriented concepts complement each other.

Numbers and Facts
Around 1000 students attend the MB/UT department at the Amberg location. Here, 30 professors teach, who are supported by 59 employees.
In addition, 26 lecturers from practice are employed with us. We have more than 30 laboratories available for research and teaching.
Location plan
The MB/UT department is easily recognisable by its large glass front. The entrance is positioned in the middle of the building. At the Infopoint, which is located directly at the lower entrance of the department, you can gather a first overview and the necessary information about our department. If you have any further questions, the secretariat on the second floor, in room 245/247, is at your disposal.
