About us
As the students’ office, we at OTH Amberg-Weiden cover a total of four areas of work that may be important for you as a prospective student, applicant or student.
Application, admission and enrolment
If you are applying for a place at our university, we will process your application and are also available to answer any questions you may have. In degree programmes with restricted admissions, we also carry out the admissions process and inform you whether or not you will be granted a study place. If you are granted a place and have decided to study at the OTH Amberg-Weiden, we will also register you at the university.
When the OTH Amberg-Weiden finally enrols, you will receive your student ID card by post.
Further information on the application and enrolment procedure can be found in our online application online application.

Insurances
Health Insurance
As a student of the OTH Amberg-Weiden, you have to upload a "Certificate of Insurance for Students" in the upload area of your application. You are free to choose your health insurance company. Advice and information is provided by the insurance companies themselves.
If you are privately insured, you can be exempted from the obligation to have insurance. The exemption must be issued by a statutory health insurance company and uploaded in the upload area of the application. Students who are covered by the statutory health insurance of their parents, spouse or person liable to pay maintenance (age limit: 25 years) are exempt from insurance and contributions.
Please note: Matriculation is not possible without proof of health insurance coverage by means of the "Certificate of Insurance for Students".
Liability insurance
You are liable for personal injury and property damage caused by you as a student in connection with your studies in accordance with the general liability principles. It is therefore recommended that you take out private liability insurance.
Accident Insurance
Since 1971, all German and foreign students enrolled at a higher education institution in Germany have been insured free of charge against the consequences of an accident directly related to their studies, in accordance with the provisions of the „Reichsversicherungsverordnung” (a special form of federal insurance). During the practical semesters of study, statutory accident insurance cover is provided in accordance with Section 539, paragraph 1 of this regulation by the employers' liability insurance association responsible for the company providing training. Every accident must be reported immediately to the study office.
Further information and tips on all required insurance policies can be found here.
