Quarantine measures for incoming students in connection with Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 - Update 1 August 2021
Dear International Students,
Welcome (back) to the OTH Amberg-Weiden.
Due to the current situation regarding Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19, please observe the following important information regarding entering Germany (valid from July 16):
Incoming students from risk areas have to fill out the digital registration from via the Digital Registration on Entry Portal of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Possible quarantine obligations depend on which risk area you come from. The risk areas are classified as follows: high-risk areas and areas of variants of concern.
Information as to which states or regions are classified into which category can be found updated every day on the homepage of the Robert-Koch-Institut.
Students from high risk areas:
If you have been in a risk areaat any time in the 10 days before your arrival, you are legally required go directly to your home (in Amberg or Weiden) or other suitable accommodation on arrival, and stay there continuously for a period of 10 days (quarantine).
The obligation to quarantine is suspended or can be prematurely terminated if you are able to present either a proof of recovery from Covid-19 or a proof of vaccination (accepted are only Astrazeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Biontech Pfizer, Moderna) or a negative test result to the responsible local authority. Testing (= swabbing) can be taken five days after entry at the earliest.
Students from areas of variants of concern:
If you have been in an area of variants of concern (i.e. areas in which new variants of the virus have spread), you have to self-isolate for a period of 14 days. The quarantine period cannot be shortened.
If you are obliged to quarantine, it is essential
- that you strictly observe the quarantine
- that you do not receive visits from people who do not belong to your household
- that you contact the responsible local health authorities via email at email@example.com (for students studying in Weiden) or firstname.lastname@example.org (for students studying in Amberg) if you develop symptoms of illness.
If you conducted a digital registration upon entering Germany, you do not have to report to the local public health authorites once you have arrived. The information is passed on automatically. If you have not performed the digital registration, please get in touch with the local health authorities in Amberg or Weiden (see email above).
