German as a foreign language - Training courses for refugee students
In September 2022, two new German as a foreign language training courses for refugee students at OTH Amberg-Weiden will begin. The courses are aimed at refugee students who would like to expand and deepen their knowledge of German.
- Campus Amberg - German for Studies 5 (admission requirement: advanced German language skills, min. B2.1), 4 SWS
- Campus Weiden - German for Studies 2 (Admission requirement: Advanced beginner's knowledge, min. A1), 24SWS
The courses will be held (depending on pandemic events) in face-to-face classes at the campuses in Amberg and Weiden.
- Period: course start in week 38 - 16.12.2022
- Course dates:
Campus Amberg:
- Wednesdays, 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in room MBUT 116 (exception: on 11/16-22 in room MBUT 110)
- Thursdays, 15:30 - 18:00 in room EMI 207
Campus Weiden:
- Wednesdays, 10:00-11:30 a.m. or 12:00 -13:30 p.m. in room WTC 1.29 (one time slot selectable)
- Every second Saturday (15.10.22, 29.10.22, 12.11.22, 26.11.22, 10.12.22) , 10:30 a.m. - approx. 4:00 p.m. in room BW118
- Course registration: by 05.09.2022 at lastest via the course registration of our university.

Can I register for the course as an international student at OTH Amberg-Weiden?
Our language course offer is aimed at refugee students. For non-refugee applicants of OTH Amberg-Weiden (international students), course places can be allocated after the registration deadline, provided that the available places are not fully occupied by refugee students. Feedback as to whether a course place can be allocated will be given after the registration period has expired from 06.09.2022. For students of OTH Amberg-Weiden, participation in the course is free of charge in the event of acceptance.
Can I also register for the course offer as an external participant?
Our language courses are aimed at refugee students at our university. For refugees without a university entrance qualification or other external international applicants, course places can be allocated after the registration deadline, provided that the available places are not fully occupied by refugee students. Feedback as to whether a course place can be allocated will be given after the registration deadline from 06.09.2022. In this case, the course fee of 200€ must be paid by the student.

What course fees will I have to pay if I am accepted?
- Refugee students: no course fee (the course fee is paid by the DAAD)
- International students of the OTH Amberg-Weiden: no course fee
- non-student refugees / external students: 200,00€.
Is it possible to participate in the course via video conference?
The course takes place as a face-to-face event at the university campus in Amberg and Weiden. Participation via video conference is not possible.

Where do the courses take place?
- Location Amberg - German for studies 5 (admission requirement: advanced German language skills, min. B2.1), 4SWS
- Location Weiden - German for Studies 2 (admission requirement: advanced beginner's knowledge, min. A1), 4 SWS
Course rooms to be announced. Students can also participate in the courses offered at the other university location, as long as regular attendance (at least 75%) is guaranteed.
Do I receive a certificate of attendance?
Upon successful completion of at least 75% attendance, students will receive a certificate of participation in the language course offering. It is not possible to have the courses credited to degree programs or to receive ECTS credits.
