Program Motorsport Engineering

Teaching language: German!

The Motorsport Engineering programme offers a solid basic education in mechanical engineering complemented by specialist knowledge and forward-looking key technologies such as e-mobility, control engineering and lightweight construction. This combination, together with a strong practical orientation, ensures a wide range of possible applications - not only in the field of racing. Various electives integrated into the course allow for further specialisation in areas of individual interest.

Degree: BEng

Duration: 3 years

Start of studies: winter (October 1) and summer (March 15)

Application period: May 1 through July 15 for the winter term, November 20 through January 15 for the summer term

Admission Requirements:

General entrance qualification for admission to a university or technical college or a subject-related university entrance qualification. Admission is also possible via professional university access. Students have to serve a pre-study internship of at least twelve weeks in a relevant professional field prior to their studies or by the end of the third semester at the latest.

German B2 (language of instruction: German)

The programme comprises five different module groups.The module group Engineering Fundaments contains specialist modules from the area of mechanical engineering and vehicle techology:

  • Engineering Design and 3D-CAD
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Machine Dynamics
  • Technical Thermodynamics
  • Heat and Mass Transfer
  • Technical Fluid Mechanics
  • Control Engineering

The module group Engineering Applications contains the following modules:

  • Construction Elements
  • Manufacturing Technology
  • Strength of Materials and FEM
  • Materials Science
  • Electrical Drive Technology
  • Measurement Technology
  • Technical Product Development and Plastic-Compatible Design

The module group Practical Experience and Key Competencies involves course contents related to practical education.

  • Internships
  • Practical Semester

The module group Mathematics and Sciences involves the following modules:

  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Computer Science
  • Electrochemistry

The fifth module group involves specialist knowledge related to motorsport:

  • Data Analysis in Motorsports
  • Suspension Design and Multibody Simulation
  • Rules and Regulations in Motorsports
  • Motorsports-Specific Projects
  • Elective Modules
