Accreditations
System accreditation
OTH Amberg-Weiden has been system-accredited since 2017. This means: The university ensures on its own responsibility that its study programs meet the recognized quality standards and that its study programs are further developed as needed. As part of system accreditation, the university's entire quality management system must be regularly put to the test. What does the university do to ensure the criteria of program accreditation itself? Who examines the quality of the study programs? Who ensures that all legal requirements, such as the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ESG), the Qualifications Framework for German Higher Education Qualifications and the criteria of the Regulation Governing Study Accreditation under the State Treaty on Study Accreditation (Bayerische Akkreditierungsverordnung - BayStudAkkV) are implemented and complied with for all study programs? Independent examiners are used for this purpose.
On the way to system accreditation, we have involved all university members. After all teachers, students and employees as well as external partners shape the quality process at our university.
OTH Amberg-Weiden has been successfully system-accredited until September 30, 2023. Currently, our university is already in the process of system re-accreditation.
Internal accreditations
With the internal accreditation OTH Amberg-Weiden establishes that its study programs comply with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) as well as the Regulation for the Regulation of Study Accreditation according to the State Treaty on Study Accreditation (Bayerische Akkreditierungsverordnung - BayStudAkkV).
The internal accreditation is based on the results of the internal and external evaluations determined in the quality assurance procedure. While the technical and content-related criteria are assessed in particular by external peers and (study program-) advisory boards, the team of the Quality Assurance and Accreditations Office checks compliance with the formal criteria in particular.
Criteria for program accreditation of individual study programs:
- Have plausible objectives been formulated for the program?
- Is the curriculum actually aligned with these goals and is it also studiable?
- Are sufficient resources available to implement the study program in this way?
The QM department prepares the documents for the accreditation decision and prepares a draft resolution based on the documented results of the internal and external evaluations and the previous discussions with the program management and a representative of the university management. In it, it provides a summary evaluation and prepares a proposal for a resolution for the Senate. The formal decision on the award or withdrawal of the accreditation seal as well as on the fulfillment of requirements is made by the Senate, the internal accreditation commission of OTH Amberg-Weiden.
The principles of quality assurance in study and teaching define the tasks and roles and procedures of the process of internal (re)accreditation describe the procedures and instruments of quality assurance.
