New regulations on infection control
Online Teaching as the Norm
As the situation in the state's hospitals and intensive care units is increasingly very serious due to rising corona illnesses, the Bavarian state government has therefore adopted new regulations on infection control that also affect the university sector and are valid from now until 15 December.
Expecting that these regulations will continue, the university management has decided on the following measures:
1. Online Teaching as the Norm
As of November 24, online teaching is the“normal form”of all courses at OTH Amberg-Weiden.
2. Face-to-Face Teaching under 2G
Classroom teaching is only possible in exceptional cases; it can be made possible by the deans upon request. However, it is a prerequisite that both lecturers and students fulfill the 2G rule. Students who do not meet these requirements will be given access to their courses in an appropriate manner. This can be achieved, for example, through hybrid forms of teaching (streaming, recording, etc.).
3. 2G Rule for Teaching Events
The 2G rule states that only individuals with valid proof of a “vaccinated”or “convalescent”status may attend a course.
4. Hotspot Rule
Provided the 7-day infection incidence in a county or incorporated city rises above 1,000 cases, no face-to-face events will be held at the university with the exception of examinations. Events that require special laboratory and work rooms at the university are permitted as an exception if a distance of 1.5 m is maintained between all participants as a matter of principle. Corresponding events are planned by the lecturers and require the agreement of the deans.
5. 3G Plus for Exams
Participants in examinations must prove a 3G plus status. This means that only vaccinated, recovered and PCR tested people are allowed to enter.
6. Compulsory Wearing of Masks
In buildings and enclosed spaces, FFP2 masks must be worn. Masks may be removed at a fixed location, provided that a minimum distance of 1.5 m from other persons is reliably maintained.
7. Libraries
Access to the libraries is only permitted in compliance with the 2G rule.
On behalf of the university, we continue to carefully monitor the infection situation in order to initiate measures in good time that enable the best possible balance between infection control and university teaching. In order to do so, we also continue the regular exchange with the Student Convention, e.g. at the beginning of December. In addition, you can make a significant contribution with your behavior. For example, by being vigilant and using self-tests, regardless of your vaccination status, to detect possible infections at an early stage and thus protect those around you.
In addition, we of course recommend vaccination as the best current way to protect yourself from infection with COVID-19.
