On some websites it is possible to send the viewed paragraph via E-mail.

It is important that you don’t use any OTH-AW.DE address as a sender if the recipient is also an OTH-AW.DE address.

In that case please use a private E-mail address or an imaginary E-mail, if possible.

If an error message or something else unexpected appears on the screen and you want to ask someone for help, document this error by taking a "screenshot" and saving it. To do this, press the "Print" key (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+4 and then the space bar (Mac OSX). This will save the current screen content to the clipboard (Windows) or place it on the desktop (Mac OSX). Now open an application that can process images (e.g. Word, Paint) and paste the "screenshot" in a suitable place by selecting "Paste" under the "Edit" menu item in the application. The screen content will then be inserted into the document and you can save or send it for documentation.

Information about which actions were previously performed is also very helpful.

1. Registration:

After you have successfully registered your account via our web form (scroll down to Activation of sync), you can start configuring your smartphone. Since your data must first be synchronised, it can take up to half an hour until the service is active.

NOTE!!

With some devices there may be warning messages that the certificate is not in order. This is because there is a new certificate from Telekom, but it has not yet been installed. Further information at: www.oth-aw.de/informieren-und-entdecken/einrichtungen/rechenzentrum/ssl-zertifikate/

2. Set up account:

Gehen Sie zu Alle Programme -> Einstellungen -> Konten und Synchronisation -> Konto hinzufügen -> Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync

Normally, your smartphone will automatically fetch all the necessary data once you have entered your OTH email address and password.

If you tap on manual setup, you can enter your user data yourself:

Username: CC identifier / OTH email address

Password

Server address: depending on "workload" you will be registered for gms1.oth-aw.de, gms2.oth-aw-de or gms3.oth-aw.de (will be entered automatically during autoconfiguration)

Go back to All Programs -> Settings -> Accounts and Synchronisation -> Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and tap on "Synchronise now".

The synchronisation is now successfully set up.

1. Registration:

2. Set up an account on the iPhone / iPad:

Under "Settings" - "Mail, Contacts, Calendar" - "Add Account..." click on "Microsoft Exchange" and enter your OTH email address and password.

As a rule, your smartphone automatically fetches all the required data, only the user name may not be transferred correctly (e.g. CC identifier: 98A2). In future, the email address should also work as the user name.

Server address: depending on "workload" you will be entered for gms1.oth-aw.de, gms2.oth-aw.de or gms3.oth-aw.de when logging in (automatically entered during autoconfiguration).

During the first synchronisation, your device will ask you whether you want to keep the existing data. Please keep an eye on that!

3. Handling:

Synchronisation is two-way. When you create data on your iPhone, it is synchronised into your GroupWise account and vice versa.

The "Student Advantage Benefit Program" from Microsoft offers all enrolled students as well as all staff members of OTH Amberg-Weiden access to the latest version of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher and Access. You receive Office 365 directly from Microsoft via the "Office 365 Portal". The necessary account with Microsoft is created via the StudiSoft portal of the University of Würzburg.

NOTE: The HS-ACCOUNT mentioned in the process is NOT the mail address but <username>@oth-aw.de.

The usage is bound to the respective status of the student / staff member. Authorisations are generated directly from the user account. The transfer of personal data must be explicitly agreed to prior to transfer. Activation must be renewed regularly and ends with exmatriculation or leaving the university.

Note: When using MS Office 365 and the associated MS 365 Cloud, the guidelines for cloud use valid at the OTH-AW (registration required!) must be observed!

You have now obtained Office through Office365. Your account will be created in the Office365 portal shortly. You can then obtain the software as described below.
NOTE: Your account will be activated in the StudiSoft portal in approx. 15 minutes after ordering. Please wait that long to log in to the Office365 portal! As soon as the account is available, you will receive the following e-mail:

1. Step: Login
After the period or when you have received the E-mail listed above, you can log in to the Office 365 portal (https://portal.office.com) using the data from the email. In addition, you will also find the initial login data in your order tracking in StudiSoft under your existing Office365 order. The password for the initial login is the Office365 order number from the StudiSoft portal.

User: HSACCOUNT@oth-aw.de HSACCOUNT = OES User ID, NOT! Email !!!
(HSACCOUNT = four digit user id)

2. Step: Change password
After logging in, you must now change your password. Enter your order number again at "Old password".

Caution! This is and has to be a different password then the one you use with your University wide login credentials.

NOTE: Please note down the new password!

You can skip the following message with "Nein"

3a. Step: install software
Now you will be automatically redirected to the page where you can download Office. Please select the following option in the interface.

Now the installer for your PC will be downloaded. Save it or run it directly.

3b. Step- install software (alternative)
Please go to the top of your account icon and select "My Account

Now go to "Installation status" and select "Install desktop applications" there

Now you can select and install the desired language and version if necessary

Note: For Windows it is recommended to use the 32Bit version even with a 64Bit Windows! With the operating system Windows Vista it can come with the installation to problems. Please check whether your system is suitable for the software by clicking on "Check system requirements" (see figure 3). Errors can also occur during installation if an Office (e.g. 2010) is already installed on the PC.

Now the installer for your PC will be downloaded. Save it or run it directly.

4.Step: activate software

4a. MAC
Note: When installing the software on a MAC, it may happen that you are asked for a KEY during the installation (example see figure - MAC 2011 installation). In this case, you must select "Sign in with an existing Office 365 subscription". You will then need to use the following credentials:

Account: see "1. step - registration"
Password: the password you have assigned. See "Step 2 - Change password"

4b. WINDOWS
Note: When installing the software on Windows, you may be asked for a KEY/account during installation. In this case, you must use the following credentials Account: see "1st step - registration" Passwort: the password you have assigned. See "Step 2 - change password"

5. Password reset
It is now possible for you to reset your password yourself. To do this, please go to Order tracking in the StudiSoft portal. There you will see a button for the corresponding order, which you have to click on.

After about 15 minutes, the change will be applied and you can log in to the portal again, as listed in steps 1 and 2, and assign a new password. NEW: You will also receive an e-mail when resetting your password.

Installation:

Download the installer "FortiClientVPN" (please only use this, never FortiClient) for your operating system from www.forticlient.com. If this download does not work, you can also download FortiClientVPN from the Downloads section of our RZ website after logging in.
Install FortiClientVPN (Start the installation, accept the licence agreement and click on the "Next" button. Now click on "Next" again and then on "Install". At the end of the installation, click on "Finish").
After the installation, you will see an icon "FortiClient" on your desktop and in your start menu.

Configuration:

Open FortiClient and accept the terms again.
Then click on "Configure VPN".
Then enter "OTH-VPN" as the connection name. Please enter vpn.oth-aw.de as the remote gateway. Then click on "Save".

You can now connect to the VPN of the university.
Enter your user name and password and click on "Connect".
Now you are connected to the university via VPN.

To disconnect, click on the FortiClient icon in the taskbar (bottom right) and then select "Disconnect".

Known issues:
FortiClientVPN aborts connection with the message that the vpn gateway would not be reachable. Solution: Open Internet options, click on the "Privacy" tab, then on "Sites". Then enter vpn.oth-aw.de under "Website address" and click on "Allow".

1.Right mouse button Start -> Powershell (as Admin)

2. in the Powershell (resets the Windows Store or installs it, if not already present):

wsreset -i (if necessary ignore the error message "... could not be found")

3. wait until a message pops up in the MS maintenance center

4. start MS Store briefly, if you are asked for login data, ignore and press away!

5. download and start Easyroam.MSIX, here you will be asked if you want to start the file with the MS Store --> YES!

6. after that you should see at least the APP "APP-Installer" in the MS Store --> install it now!

7. after that start the MSIX again, now the symbol should have changed.

8. a setup opens and you can install, possibly (or quite sure) you get an error message that you still have to allow in the settings "Apps cross-load"! --> DO IT! (Link is displayed in a small box in the setup window)

9. perform setup and then start the Easyroam app.

With the service "easyroam" of the German Research Network (DFN) you can create up to five profiles for your devices (e.g. laptop, smartphone, tablet). The profiles (certificates) are each valid for 6 months and can be extended easily on the site (https://www.easyroam.de/). The service uses EAP-TLS and thus no longer stores any passwords on your devices for using eduroam. With this method, only client/user certificates are used for login. These certificates are individual for each device and do not contain any name or other personal data. Via the easyroam website you can manage your profiles individually and also lock devices in case your device gets lost.

There are apps for Windows, Android and iOS that automatically perform the configuration for you.

For iOS MacOS and Android please make sure that you are NOT connected to BayernWLAN (instead you need another internet connection for configuration).

For Android, the eduroam WLAN profile must also be removed.

easyroam is a further development of the eduroam service and is mainly aimed at small institutions in the DFN, but can also be used by large institutions in the DFN.

The idea of merging eduroam and the DFN-AAI is nothing new and was unfortunately not possible for a long time, since the DFN-AAI did not yet exist in the area. This has changed for some time now, so that it is now possible to make the eduroam service more secure and simpler by merging eduroam and the DFN-AAI. The heart of easyroam is the easyroam portal: https://www.easyroam.de, which is a DFN-AAI service provider in the DFN-AAI-Basic, eduroam profiles for the common operating systems like: W10, MacOSX/iOS, ANDROID and LINUX derivatives. The easyroam portal can be entered in the configuration wizard on https://cat.eduroam.org via the entry of the eduroam - IdP's (Identity Provider) of the institutions.

In eduroam, the authentication method EAP-TLS is available in addition to other methods for logging in. With this method, only client/user certificates are used for logon. The eduroam users can only generate these certificates for eduroam on www.easyroam.de if they are in possession of a valid DFN-AAI IdP ID with opt-in. The eduroam client/server certificates are part of a "Self-Signed PKI" and can only be used in eduroam. The easyroam server only stores the pairwise ID (pseudonym) of the DFN-AAI IdP account and the serial number of the client/user certificate. The latter is also part of the roaming identity. A special feature compared to current EAP-TLS offers is that the eduroam users are no longer identifiable by name in the certificate. This makes it impossible to create movement profiles of eduroam users. However, it is possible to establish an assignment between Pairwise ID and certificate serial number and to clearly associate the eduroam user with a person. So you are not generally anonymous in eduroam, as it is the case so far. The server software is a .NET development written in C-Sharp. PHP was deliberately omitted, because PHP did not provide the server security that was required of the server software. The server currently supports three languages: German, English and Chinese (currently being revised).

Easyroam on WIndows 10:

Make sur you have a Internet connection.

If the GETEDUROAM app was installed please delete/remove the app and the saved WiFi.

1. Download the easyroam app: https://www.easyroam.de/winapp/easyroam.msix and install.

(if you dont have a Microsoft Store on your machine follow these instructions)

2. Start the Easyroam App. Usually a Browser will be opened.

3. In the WAYF (Where Are You From) locate Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden and log in wit your OTH-AW Account.

4. After a successful login wird the main menu „Home“ will be visible.After clickin on „install new profile“ a new easyroam profile will be installed.

5. The new Profil will be shown as „valid“ in the main menu.

6. Wait a few Minutes for the configuration to finish.

Easyroam on Android

The easyroam app on ANDROID is downloadable from the Google Play Store: Easyroam

Make sure that you have an existing internet connection other than eduroam during the following configuration.

1. Delete the geteduroam app and also any existing eduroam profile. Download the easyroam app from the app Store and install.

2. Start the easyroam app.

3.There are two Ways to login either „Login through Website“ or „Login using QR-Code“. Using „Login through Website“ youll have to log in to WAYF (Where Are You From) see section 4. . If you have a laptop or desktop at hand , you can login through portal at www.easyroam.de and generate a QR code (valid 5 minutes), Which you can thenscan with your easyroam app on your ANDROID Device. In this case you can skip section 4. and install the Profile as shown under section 5. .

4.In the Search bar locate the DFN-AAI IdP Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden and log in to your OTH-AW account.

5. Click on „Install new profile“to start the installation process for the new profile.

6. Click on „Confirm“.

7. Click on „Allow".

8. The validity period for the certificate will be shown in green.

Logging on to eduroam

Shaould the easyroam Connection not work for once then pllease restart your devices WI-FI by turning it off and on again.

Verwalten der Pseudoprofile

As long as there is a valid pseudocertificate on the device, the device will log on regardless of operating system ANDROID oder iOS in easyroam. A log in through the DFN-AAI IdP account is no longer neccessary. in the main menu by pressing „Manage“ you can renew, install or revoke a certificate.

Through the button „Other profiles“ you can revoke profiles on other devices.

Einstellungen/Settings

Through Settings, it is possible to change to Fingerprint verification,which is preventing unauthorized eduroam access on your device. You can also configure the App to warn you if your Certificate is abut to expire. Using „Reset this App“ you can revoke the certificate that is installed on the device. After that you can follow the above steps again.

My account

In the my account menu the logo of your organization (OTH-AW) should be displayed . You can also check how many of your Profiles are in use and how many can still be issued. The Status shows if your access to easyroam is still active. It is possible that you can no longer issue new Certificates, however the old ones might still be valid. Only the easyroam admins of your organization may remove this restriction.

Easyroam on Linux

Of course, easyroam can also be used on Linux derivatives. Unfortunately, there are no generally valid instructions. The following describes how the individual components that are required for a manual configuration of easyroam on Linux devices can be obtained from the easyroam portal:

1. ensure that an Internet connection exists, LAN or WLAN.

2. login to the easyroam portal select Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden as IdP and login with your OTH-AW account : https:www.easyroam.de.

3. click on "Manual options" directly after successful login to the portal and select PKCS12 by clicking on the selection box.

4. Enter the profile name and click on Generate access.
Please note. The name of the profile is not the name of the PKCS12 file. The name of the profile is used for the internal administration of the easyroam profiles. The name of the downloaded PKCS12 file is formed from the date and time of the generation of the PKCS12 file with the suffix .p12.
5. The CLI of openssl is used to extract the individual components such as the client certificate, the private key and the RootCA certificate:
Please note that Import Password of the .p12 - file is empty. When using openssl, pay attention to the wording: Enter Import Password with <return> acknowledge.
Client certificate:

openssl pkcs12 -in my_easyroam_cert.p12 -legacy -nokeys > easyroam_client_cert.pem

Please note, the -legacy option must be omitted here and in the following. Unfortunately, the use of the OpenSSL option is version dependent.
Private Key:
Please note, since the various network managers and the wpa_supplicant usually only accept password protected private keys, a password must be set during extraction. With the following command first Enter Import Password appears, so acknowledge with <Return>, then Enter PEM pass phrase appears: Here you enter a new password and remember it!

RootCA certificate:

The certificate files can also be assembled with copy/paste. It should be noted that the private key must still be provided with a password.
6. There are indeed instructions on the net for configuring EAP-TLS on various network managers from the specified components. As an example, the CLI netctl on Archlinux is used to show how EAP-TLS and thus easyroam/eduroam can be configured on a Linux device. The following is required:

If easyroam shall be installed permanently run the following command:

Easyroam on iOS

Ensure that an Internet connection exists, e.g. WLAN (not eduroam).

1. Delete the current eduroam profile and, if available, the geteduroam app beforehand. Download and install the easyroam app from the Apple App Store.

2. Start the easyroam app (example iPAD Pro).

3. There are two options for logging into easyroam: "Login through Website" or "Login using QR code". Login through Website" requires the login via WAYF (Where Are You From) Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden and its OTH-AW account see point 4. If one has his laptop or desktop device nearby, one can log in to easyroam with these devices via the portal www.easyroam.de in the browser and generate a QR code (valid for 5 minutes), which one can then scan in the easyroam app on the iOS device. In this case, skip point 4. and install the profile as indicated in point 5.

4. Search for the appropriate DFN-AAI IdP in the search window and log in with your DFN-AAI IdP account.

5. Click on "Install new profile" or "Request new profile" to start the installation process of the profile.

6. Click on "Confirm" to continue.

7. A system check box appears, "Easyroam wants to connect to WLAN eduroam." Selecting "Connect" will establish the connection to eduroam.

In the "Other Profiles" area, profiles on other end devices can be revoked if necessary. However, the profiles on other end devices cannot be renewed.

Easyroam on MACOS

Make sure that there is an Internet connection, LAN or WLAN (not eduroam). If old eduroam profiles that were not installed with easyroam are still on the system, please be sure to delete them before using easyroam. see "System Prefences/System Settings" and Profiles. Old profiles that were installed with easyroan do not need to be deleted beforehand.

1. Open a browser (usually Safari) and enter https://www.easyroam.de. And select the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden.

2. After successful login with OTH-AW account click on "manual options" and select Mobile-Config (Apple).

3. Click on "Generate access" and the download box will appear in the foreground of the browser window.

4. Click on "OK" to continue. Then go to "System Prefences/System Settings" and select Profiles at the bottom right.

5. A menu appears with the user profiles and the downloaded profile, triangle icon with yellow exclamation mark.

6. Click on the downloaded profile and then "click" on Install, the next menu will appear.

7. Now there is another possibility to look into the details of the profile or to finish the installation. When the installation is completed, the system asks for the user's password, which gives permission to install the profile on the system. After the installation, the MacOSX computer will try to connect to the eduroam network. If there is no eduroam network nearby, an error message may appear. However, the profile is installed and as soon as an eduroam network is found, an automatic login to the eduroam network is performed.

The external identity must not be changed, because it is bound to the CN (Common Name) in the client certificate.

If you receive the message that you cannot edit Office files, you can try to solve the problem with the following steps.

1. Start all Office applications installed on your Mac, click on the name of the application in the menu (e.g. Word) and select "Sign out". Then close the application.

2. In the Finder, click on "Go to" and then "Go to folder".

3. Enter the following in the field: ~/Library

4. Click on the Group Containers folder

5. Locate the following three files/folders and drag them to the Trash

6. Empty the recycle bin and start an Office application to check whether you can now edit the documents.

7. Restart an Office application, log in again and try to edit the file again.

Quick guide Remote access to lab computers

Students can have remote access to laboratory computers as part of courses and exercises.

You will receive information and access from your lecturer.

Access is via the Splashtop software.

If you have activated your account and would like to attend remote events, download the Splashtop Business software and log in with your access data. NOTE: You can only use the software once an account has been created for you by the university (you will receive an invitation by email)

You can see your current events under "Planned access". This list shows the computers that have been released for remote control for the current event.

Click on the "My Calendar" button to see a calendar of upcoming events for which you are registered.

A few minutes before the event, you will see a list of the computers that will be available for the duration of the event. Gray computers are currently switched off and can be switched on by clicking on the cogwheel (open settings) and then on "Activate". Please note that the activation process takes some time. If you receive an error message or the computer cannot be switched on, please use the web interface to switch on the computer at https://my.splashtop.eu .

Click on Refresh to see when the computer is available (blue display). You can now connect to the computer by double-clicking on it.

At the end of the event, the computers will disappear again and you will be automatically logged out of the computer.
