When and where are the films shown?
Since this semester, we show films every Wednesday at 7:30 PM.
In Amberg at the Audimax of the university in Amberg, Faculty MBUT.
In Weiden at the Multifunctional Room in the Hörsaalgebäude.
Doors open at 7:00 PM. The film starts at 7:30 PM.
Who is the student cinema for?
Within the framework of our licenses, lecture hall cinemas should not compete with commercial cinemas, and we don't want to do that anyway. Therefore, the cinema evenings and our advertising are fundamentally directed only internally to university members/affiliates (students and staff of universities). However, members of other universities are also allowed to attend. In addition, visitors may be accompanied by people from their closest personal circle (e.g. friends, life partners, children), even if they are not university members.
What about the "club fee"?
We show films. But we're not the only ones doing that ;-) However, for our prices to remain student-friendly, our screenings must not be public. For this reason, we are a film club with a (more or less) small circle of student film enthusiasts.
What's the deal with the app?
The app is not an invention or development of ours, but is used by all student cinemas of the entire unifilm network and has to do with the licensing restrictions that we are also subject to. It replaces the previously used paper club cards and is therefore mandatory for all visitors.
What films are shown?
Films that are available on DVD/Blu-Ray (as current as possible). We CANNOT show current cinema films, as we would otherwise be in competition with local cinema operators. Besides, we wouldn't get a license for that either...
