About us

The Institute for Medical Technology (IfMZ) is a scientific research institution at the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden (OTH Amberg-Weiden). As a central interface, the IfMZ connects all university-related activities between research, teaching, and industry in the field of medical technology.

With a working group of professors, scientists, and engineers from diverse specializations, the institute has access to a broad range of expertise in the fields of medicine, molecular biology, and engineering. In close collaboration with regional and national external partners, the IfMZ integrates questions from applied medical technology research with the practical training of highly qualified specialists for the future-oriented field of medical technology. The institute cooperates with numerous companies in the medical technology industry, hospitals, specialist medical practices, and external research institutions.

In close cooperation with these external partners, the IfMZ addresses a wide range of issues in the field of scientific and applied medical technology research and development.

Furthermore, the IfMZ collaborates with the Medical Technology Advisory Board of the VDI Society for Technologies of Life Sciences. Professor Dr. Clemens Bulitta is the main contact person for the collaboration with the VDI Society.
