Modules

The BeVorStudium modules can be put together individually depending on prior knowledge and study objective. We will be happy to advise you on your choice of module. It can also be helpful to take an Online-Selbsttest.

Mathematics I

Most intermediate-level topics - such as fractions, the power laws or binomial formulae - are indispensable "tools of the trade" in both technical and business studies. Unlike some upper-level topics, they are not repeated in the first semester. This content is the subject of the module Mathematics 1.

Content:

  • Numbers and arithmetic operations (fractions, powers, roots)
  • Basics of algebra (terms, equations, systems of equations)
  •  Geometry of surfaces and bodies
  •  Linear functions

Previous knowledge: Elementary school mathematics (e.g. dealing with fractions, decimals, terms)

Length: 48 teaching units of 45 minutes each

Course location: Weiden

Dates: February to April; every 14 days on Saturdays (see also Further information)

Participation fee: 350,-€

Mathematics II

In many degree programmes, secure upper-level knowledge of mathematics is required.  These are the subject of the module Mathematics II; in the first semester, this is usually followed up directly.

Contents:

  • Types of functions and their properties
  • Basics of differential/integral calculus
  • Basics of vector geometry
  • Trigonometry

Previous knowledge: secure knowledge of intermediate mathematics (e.g. fractions, powers, algebraic transformations, linear functions)

Duration: 72 teaching units of 45 minutes each

Course location: Weiden

Dates: May to September; fortnightly on Saturdays (see also further information)

Participation fee: 500,- €

Physics

Particularly in the classic engineering courses - such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or industrial engineering - prior knowledge of physics is also important for a successful start to your studies. In this module, you will gain an insight into physical ways of thinking and working using the example of mechanics and learn about essential physical quantities and their interrelationships.

  • Conservatijn variables
  • Mechanical vibrations

Previous knowledge: secure knowledge of intermediate mathematics (e.g. fractions, powers, algebraic transformations, linear functions, elementary geometry)

Length: 40 teaching units of 45 minutes each
