Accreditation

System accreditation

Since 2017, OTH Amberg-Weiden has been system-accredited by the Accreditation Council in accordance with the legally prescribed procedures. This means: The university is responsible for ensuring that its degree programmes meet the recognised quality standards and that its range of courses is continuously developed. Consequently, the university is authorised to award the Accreditation Council's seal of approval to its study programmes .

As part of the system accreditation process, the university's entire quality management system is regularly reviewed by independent external assessors. OTH Amberg-Weiden was successfully reaccredited in 2023. The current system accreditation is valid until 30 September 2031.

Internal Accreditation

Through internal programme accreditation (an internal process for awarding the Accreditation Council's seal of approval for study programmes), OTH Amberg-Weiden confirms that its study programmes comply with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) and with the regulation governing the accreditation of study programmes in accordance with the State Treaty on Study Programme Accreditation (Bavarian Study Programme Accreditation Regulation - BayStudAkkV). OTH Amberg-Weiden's  Principles of Quality Assurance in Study and Teaching define tasks, roles and procedures involved in the internal programme accreditation process. They also describe the procedures and tools used for quality assurance.

Internal programme accreditation is based on the results of internal and external evaluations as determined in the quality assurance process. Whilst compliance with the subject-related and content-related criteria (Sections 11 to 20 of BayStudAkkV) is reviewed in particular by external assessors, the qm team of OTH Amberg-Weiden primarily checks the formal criteria (Sections 3 to 10 of BayStudAkkV). It prepares the documentation for the accreditation decision and draws up an accreditation report, including a proposal for a resolution to be put before the Senate. The Senate acts as internal accreditation commission of OTH Amberg-Weiden and decides on the award or withdrawal of the accreditation seal.

Of course all Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes at OTH Amberg-Weiden are accredited. All accreditation results - in particular accreditation certificates and quality reports - are available via the Accreditation Council's central database ("ELIAS").
