Searching for applicants with AI?
‘Searching for applicants with AI?’ - is the title of a current research article by Prof. Dr. Jan Sauer and Prof. Dr. Christian Schieder, which deals with the use of artificial intelligence in personnel selection. Together with students, the two professors are investigating how AI can change the approach to applicants, pre-selection and decision-making processes in recruitment - and which opportunities, limitations and acceptance factors play a role in this.
They are not only analysing the potential of intelligent systems, but also taking a critical look at the legal and ethical framework - particularly with regard to SMEs and the European AI Act. The project is exemplary of the research-based teaching at OTH Amberg-Weiden: scientifically sound, socially relevant and closely linked to current developments in the world of work.
Further practical research and co-operation projects will follow.

"I originally come from a technical background, but had wanted to develop in the direction of business for some time. Business psychology was the perfect combination of economic thinking and psychological issues for me. This makes the degree programme much more varied than traditional business studies. I particularly like the wide range of modules, from HR and marketing to psychology and many other interesting areas. The biggest challenge for me was getting started with academic work, but with a bit of practice you find your way into it. I would advise prospective students not to be put off by maths or statistics. Once you have mastered this, many things become easier."

"AWP combined my interest in psychology with my desire for a career change into an exciting industry that was new to me. I was surprised that I was even able to gain something positive from the maths modules - every subject offers real added value in addition to the obvious things I learnt. There were challenges, of course, but even these helped rather than held me back. Discipline and belief in my own potential were crucial for me. My tip: if you're unsure, look for role models, be courageous - and then just do it."
Practical reference

You will not only gain valuable practical insights at the university, but also through our corporate partners. For example, the Witt Group's employer branding team was a guest in the Human Resources Management department - a partner that regularly offers internships and working student positions. In 2024, almost 60% of the interns there came from OTH Amberg-Weiden. Many of them are taken on - initially as working students and later to start their careers. Around half of the junior positions are filled in this way. Theses are also written in cooperation with companies such as Constantia Flexibles. Your practical semester in the sixth semester is compulsory - this is where you gain your first experience and make important contacts.
Study business administration internationally

For example, you can study abroad for a semester at one of our numerous partner universities or complete your internship semester in an international or foreign company. The International Office team will help you to find and organise the best opportunities.
