HIGHLIGHTS of the course

Instead of discussing behavior purely in theoretical terms, you’ll analyze specific psychological issues in the business world during your studies. Instead of just memorizing definitions, you’ll work in teams to develop practical solutions—for example, for selecting new employees, optimizing advertising campaigns, or designing change processes in companies. Instead of merely interpreting numbers, you’ll learn how to use sound market research methods to reveal human behavior in markets.
What makes this program unique is the combination of psychology and business—always with a focus on application, starting from the very first semester. You’ll develop a deep understanding of thought and decision-making processes, as well as communication, motivation, and behavior within organizations. At the same time, you’ll work closely with industry partners and benefit from small class sizes and personalized guidance. Step by step, you’ll become a sought-after bridge between people and markets.
Certification Programmes
In addition to your regular studies, you can take certification courses at OTH Amberg-Weiden free of charge - for example in the areas of project management or digitalisation. Structure
In the Bachelor’s program in Applied Business Psychology, you’ll learn everything you need to understand and strategically shape human behavior in an economic context. You’ll take courses on the fundamentals of psychology and economics—such as differential psychology, social psychology, market and advertising psychology, industrial and organizational psychology, and business administration. Statistics, research methods, and empirical social research are also on your schedule.
You’ll gain valuable practical experience through applied projects in which you’ll work with your team to address real-world issues—for example, in the fields of work and organizational psychology, recruitment, consumer behavior, or sports psychology. In the process, you’ll learn to systematically translate psychological knowledge into business decisions. In addition, you’ll further develop your personal skills in modules on communication, teamwork, and academic research.
Starting in the 4th semester, you can specialize in a competency profile. Your options are:
- Work and Organizational Psychology
- Market and Advertising Psychology
- Human Resources Psychology
But you don’t have to commit to a specific track—you can also choose to be a generalist.
Bonus: If you complete all the modules in a competency profile, you’ll receive an official certificate in addition to your bachelor’s degree—a strong asset for your resume and potential employers. In the sixth semester, you’ll apply your knowledge directly in a company during a practical phase lasting at least 20 weeks. And in the seventh semester, you’ll write your bachelor’s thesis—ideally on a practical topic from your chosen field.
