Or have you just completed your bachelor’s degree and want to learn how to become an entrepreneur, whether in a traditional job, a startup, or by launching your own business? Thanks to the modern hybrid study model—which combines online instruction, compact on-campus sessions (typically about two days a week) at the Kemnath campus, and select intensive courses—the program is easily compatible with work, family, and daily life. In addition, the Business Innovation & Entrepreneurship program offers students the unique opportunity to actively help shape the curriculum. Small cohorts foster close interaction and enable the creation of a learning environment tailored to the demands of modern businesses and the needs of students.

The program focuses on modern management skills, innovation, entrepreneurship, and intrapreneurship. It’s not just about starting your own business. It’s about recognizing opportunities, taking responsibility, and actively shaping change. Not every graduate will start a business. But every graduate will learn to think and act like an entrepreneur.

HIGHLIGHTS of the course

Real Projects. Real Impact. Mastering Innovation.

In the Master’s program in Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship, you’ll develop innovation not in the classroom—but in the real world. Entrepreneurial action is always at the heart of the program—whether in a startup, a small-to-medium-sized business, or a DAX-listed company. What that means: hands-on, interdisciplinary, and always results-oriented.

What you can look forward to:

  • Applied teaching to solve real-world challenges
  • Modern management skills, particularly strategic, process-oriented, and psychological competencies
  • Methodological training and the use of practical “tools” for everyday business operations
  • Maximum student involvement for extensive hands-on experience and “learning by doing”
  • Projects and assignments from regional companies ensure practical relevance and offer maximum networking opportunities
  • Case studies (regional, national, international) to illustrate the course content
  • Theory? Yes, but kept concise and with a clear focus: guidance for solving business problems

Look forward to a learning environment that is second to none. The new Kemnath Campus is currently being built from the ground up. That means: state-of-the-art facilities, plenty of open space, and ample opportunity to get involved. The new Kemnath Campus is thus more than just a place of study—it is a space for entrepreneurial possibilities. This is where ideas and teams are born, and where the skills and management talents of tomorrow grow.

Questions concerning the study course

Is this a new study program?

Yes. And it’s truly new.

Business Innovation & Entrepreneurship has been developed entirely from scratch—not as a revamp of an existing program, but built from the ground up with a clear goal: to help people take on responsibility, recognize opportunities, and actively drive things forward. It’s explicitly not just about starting your own business. The program is equally aimed at anyone who wants to take on responsibility in existing companies, shape innovation, or develop their leadership skills.

In short: If you want to do more than just work—if you want to help shape the future—you’ve come to the right place.

Let's be honest: Why should I choose this master's program?

Because we don’t offer just any old master’s program here. Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a high-quality, exciting, and diverse program. It focuses entirely on modern management skills, strategic and process-oriented methods, agile workflows, and—most importantly—key personal skills that build on your individual strengths. On top of that, you’ll work with modern tools, analyze numerous case studies, and engage in plenty of hands-on applications. One thing’s for sure: you won’t get bored.

What is the course about?

It’s about entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship—that is, entrepreneurial thinking and action in the workplace, no matter where that may be. We emphasize training in the latest methods, the use of practical tools, and lots and lots of case studies.

Theory or practice?

Definitely practice. We’ll focus 100% on hands-on work, try out lots of different things, collaborate with real companies, and won’t have any exams.

How exactly? No exams?

Exactly! No exams.

What are my possibilities after the course?

Everything you need to know as a manager, project manager, team leader, entrepreneur, or business founder. Everything. I promise.

Can I study for the master's degree while working?

Yes, definitely—that’s exactly what we want to achieve. We also want you to gain further qualifications while continuing to work in your current positions. That’s why we’ll be using a hybrid model: remote on Mondays, and in Kemnath on Tuesdays and Wednesday mornings.

How much time does it take each week?

Of course, a master’s program requires time and dedication. Students earn 30 ECTS credits per semester. At the same time, we have deliberately designed the program to be as compatible as possible with a full-time job. Many courses are held online, some are offered in intensive blocks, and part of the learning can be scheduled flexibly. Of course, the actual time commitment depends on individual prior knowledge, learning pace, and personal expectations. However, our goal is to offer a program that can be integrated into everyday professional life in a practical and realistic way and, above all, is and remains feasible alongside a full-time job.

What if I can't manage to balance my studies with my job?

Thanks to the small class sizes and close collaboration between faculty and students, we are able to address individual challenges and opportunities on a highly personalized basis. There is certainly a solution for every problem.

What makes this program special?

It’s new, it’s breaking new ground, it’s located at the brand-new Campus Kemnath, and it will continue to evolve in an agile way together with you. As students, you’ll contribute to this and help shape its future. And yes, the faculty has an entrepreneurial spirit in their blood.

Will I have to start a business later on?

No. Entrepreneurship is an important part of the program, but by no means its sole objective. The program is equally aimed at people who wish to take on responsibility within companies, drive innovation, or assume leadership roles.

Is there a tuition fee?

(POC: Susanne Winterl)
This is a degree program that does not require tuition payment by neither national nor international students. There is no tuition fee, you only have to pay 87€ per semester for administrative matters (student identity card etc.).

Questions concerning your study location

Where is the program held?

Hybrid and on-site, meaning remotely/online and in Kemnath, at the brand-new facilities of the OTH Amberg-Weiden’s Kemnath Campus. The classrooms will be completed in time for October and will then be available to all students—state-of-the-art and brand-new.

Why Kemnath?

It’s simple: Kemnath has much more to offer than many people realize at first glance. The new Kemnath Campus is creating a modern learning environment with short distances, a personal atmosphere, and close interaction between students and faculty. Added to this is an exciting environment with successful companies in the region, including Siemens Healthineers, Ponnath, and IGZ. We also benefit from an active entrepreneurial and startup network, the Technology Transfer Center (TTZ), and Co-Working Kemnath. Support from local and regional policymakers further creates ideal conditions for new ideas, projects, and collaborations.

And honestly: For a degree program focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, and future-oriented topics, we can hardly imagine a more suitable environment.

How to get to Kemnath?

All students will be able to come to campus—we promise.

  • By car: The Kemnath campus is easily accessible by car—there is plenty of parking available right on campus.
  • By train: Kemnath also has a train station. We will set up a shuttle service from the station to the campus to transport every student from the station to the campus (travel time approx. 5 minutes).
  • With SpaceX: Immediately after the IPO, our program director will contact Elon Musk.

Are there accessible entrances?

Yes there are accessible entrances.
