Einblicke in den Studienalltag

"At the OTH in Weiden, you are not just a student number, but a personality. As a student, I never felt helpless in the face of my degree programme and its milestones. This was not least due to the personal support and close contact with the professors. It was precisely this kind of support that helped me to develop my skills, expand them and grow in my studies. You get the support you need and are also encouraged to take other paths to make your studies more varied. The lectures not only address theoretical models, but also create and emphasise the link to practice. During the specialisation, students are given the opportunity to apply and consolidate the knowledge they have acquired in projects with local companies. The additional alternatives offered allow you to further your education in other different areas. This gives me the chance to broaden my professional horizons later on and creates a new way of thinking that is in demand on the labour market."

Digital Business Labs

Digital Business Lab - Vom Sensor zum Geschäftsmodell

Experience practice - understand processes - use data intelligently

The practical application of digital business models plays a central role in the Logistics & Digitalisation degree programme. In the specially equipped Digital Business Lab at OTH Amberg-Weiden, real business processes are simulated on a small scale - so-called ‘use cases’ from the business world, which enable students to actively experience and analyse the interplay between technology, computer science and business administration.

One particular example is the coffee production demonstration process currently being developed: a complete, digitally monitored production process is being set up from the bean to the finished beverage. Sensors continuously record relevant process data at various stations - such as temperature, fill levels or throughput times.

This data is not only used for visualisation, but is also analysed, interpreted and processed for economic decisions as part of the course. The aim is to sensitise students to the intelligent use of data in operational processes - and to show them in a practical way how modern digital value creation works.

The lab is currently being expanded - and is constantly growing with new components, stations and application scenarios. It thus offers a lively learning and experimental space for interdisciplinary work at the interface of business and technology.
