Fit4Study

Fit4Study is a university-wide, bilingual self-test used in courses at the beginning of each semester to systematically support first-year students in navigating a changing academic and professional environment. The project is currently in its third data collection round and is now firmly established in university practice.

The test consists of two parts:

  • Academic Positioning
Particularly in the subject of mathematics.
  • Structured Self-Assessment of Interdisciplinary Competencies
The focus is on foundational and cross-cutting future skills such as self-regulation, learning competence, critical thinking, problem-solving ability, handling uncertainty, and taking responsibility for one’s own learning process.

The individual, non-evaluative feedback highlights specific development opportunities for students and explicitly refers them to existing support services within and outside the university. In the long term, the competence test can also support transitions into practical and professional life by helping students recognize their own strengths and learning areas in the context of a complex working world.

The OTH Amberg-Weiden actively contributes to future-oriented higher education by empowering first-year students from the outset to independently shape their academic success and build key future skills.
