Goal of our bridge courses is to refresh previous knowledge from school, supplement it and deepen it. The aim is to make the transition to university easier for students.

Tutor training for students

Preparation for the role as tutor

Our tutor training covers core tasks of tutoring, the scaffolding method for learning support as well as basic models of communication.

You will learn to prepare tutorials successfully and how to implement didactic principles in your tutorials. We also discuss how to respond appropriately to difficult situations in a tutorial and how to give constructive feedback.

Competence Tests at the CCG

Recognising competences – supporting academic success

The Competence Centre for Fundamental Subjects develops and pilots competence-oriented tests to support study orientation and academic success. The aim is to enable students to reflect on their prerequisites at an early stage and to gain data-based insights for the further development of teaching and support services.

One example is Fit4Study, a university-wide, bilingual self-assessment for the start of studies. Implemented within courses, it combines a personal study profile with a subject-specific self-assessment (e.g. mathematics) and provides individual, non-graded feedback.
All competence tests are voluntary, GDPR-compliant and pseudonymised. Participation is currently possible only when the tests are integrated into a course.

Digital ressource pool

Individual practice and automated feedback

The digital ressource pool gives lecturers of the OTH Amberg-Weiden access to high-quality ressource collections for basic modules.

Available units:

Digital assignment pool for mathematics: Over 2000 digital tasks for moodle tests with individual feedback and interactive graphs, developed in cooperation with several universities.
Digital assignment pool for computer science: Automatically evaluable programming tasks for use in moodle tests, developed with teaching staff of our university.
Digital Assignment Pool for Electrical Engineering: More than 400 digital Moodle assessment tasks developed at our university and successfully used in teaching.

Learning Modules

Modular learning. Flexible use.

The interactive learning modules for mathematics are designed for use by both lecturers and students.

Lecturers can flexibly integrate the modules into their teaching, for example for revision units or guided self-study phases. Individual elements of a learning module can also be embedded directly into a course’s Moodle environment.

Students may enrol in the linked Moodle courses at any time to use the learning modules for independent practice. For content-related questions, they can contact the Digital Helpdesk directly.

Currently, learning modules are available for the following topics. They were developed within the IdeaL project and are now jointly maintained by the Competence Centre for Fundamental Subjects and the Service Center for Digital Assignments:

Laplace Transformation
