Aufbau Künstliche Intelligenz

As a student of Artificial Intelligence, you are a specialist in the development of interactive and self-learning applications with a deep understanding of human processes, behavior and perception. You will design and develop AI applications that use machine learning, draw on huge amounts of data, solve complex problems or can be used in robotics. You will also be an expert in AI-supported image, speech and sensor signal processing. You will acquire the knowledge for these diverse tasks on the Artificial Intelligence degree program at OTH Amberg-Weiden.

Inhalte

Artificial intelligence is now present in almost all areas of our lives. Knowledge from this specialist field is used in a variety of different application areas. At OTH Amberg-Weiden, this field of study offers three exciting specializations:

Data Analytics & Computer Vision (Head: Fabian Brunner)

Data analysis techniques or "data analytics" are penetrating the world of science and business at a rapid pace. Deep learning algorithms in particular are driving innovation and performance improvements in artificial intelligence. Data analytics is an established and accepted field that is being used enthusiastically in both science and business.

This knowledge is combined with the specialist and research field of computer vision. Here, knowledge of computer science is closely interlinked with that of engineering. Visual information is first processed and analyzed. Various methods are used to automate the understanding of visual content and extract relevant information for further processing. Computer-based vision is not only used in many existing industries, but also enables the creation of innovative new areas.

Smart Energy and Smart Home (Head: Frank Späte)

The change in energy supply towards decentralized and renewable generation structures is a current challenge not only in Germany. Our future lies in an environmentally friendly and economical energy supply. However, in addition to applications in the energy supply sector, there is also a direct need in households.

Smart energy and smart home are no longer unknown terms. Rather, they include topics relating to energy transmission, energy consumption, energy generation, energy use, increasing the quality of living and quality of life, using intelligent processes that can ensure both safety and efficiency.

The technologies developed in this way are among the key disciplines of artificial intelligence. They are therefore a focus of the Artificial Intelligence degree program at OTH Amberg-Weiden.

Smart Robotics & Smart Media (Head: Matthias Wenk)

The field of robotics has developed strongly in recent years. There is an increasing demand for highly flexible robot solutions for the markets. These not only reduce costs but also support unique selling points and are efficient helpers for every team. Smat Robotics focuses on the new technologies in robotics.

In combination with Smart Media, knowledge is imparted that enables innovative media developments. The latest technological concepts lead to entire living environments being supported by media and made future-proof in the interests of people. In this context, smart means the interaction of the latest technology with innovative media implementation in order to optimally support people in the most diverse areas of life.

Course of study

Your studies usually last seven semesters and lead to the academic degree "Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence".

The Bachelor's degree program in Artificial Intelligence is divided into three study sections. The first two semesters provide basic knowledge and include the following modules:

  • theoretical and practical computer science
  • Mathematics and revision
  • Python programming
  • Ethics and interaction
  • classical AI
  • Stochastics
  • English & Web
  • C & C++

In the first two semesters of the second stage of studies (semesters 3 and 4), the basics are deepened and the practical phase is prepared:

  • Java and Java Script programming
  • Data engineering and data analytics
  • Mobile and ubiquitous computing
  • Algorithms and data structures
  • Machine learning
  • Cloud and NoSQL
  • Computer vision
  • Big Data

The second study phase ends with the completion of the practical phase in a company in semester 5.

In the third and final stage of the course (semesters 6 and 7), the following courses turn future graduates into specialists in the field of artificial intelligence:

  • Artificial Intelligence and Innovation
  • Specialization
  • Deep Learning
  • Electives
  • Bachelor's seminar and Bachelor's thesis.
