Course content of the Global Research in Sustainable Engineering degree programme

The study programme comprises three semesters. After successful completion, you start your career with the title "Master of Science (MSc)".

The research part of the programme consists of the project 1 and 2 as well as the master's thesis, which are three self-contained research modules that should build on each other. At least one of the research modules must be carried out outside Germany at a cooperation partner for this degree programme and at least one at the OTH Amberg-Weiden.

At the end of a semester, a winter or summer school takes place, which brings together all students from the degree programme. The central component of these schools are the research conferences with the accompanying seminars. Two teaching modules are also held as block courses.

Elective modules can be taken at the OTH Amberg-Weiden or at a cooperation partner.

The Master's programme "Global Research in Sustainable Engineering" covers the following topics:

Compulsory modules:

  •   Project 1
  •   Project 2
  •   Innovation Management and Communication
  •   Winter Summer School: compulsory module "Research Methods and Strategies" + 1 subject-specific compulsory module

Elective modules:

  •     3 subject-specific modules of free choice
  •     1 interdisciplinary module of free choice

Bridge modules

Students with a Bachelor's degree with 180 ECTS credit points have to obtain 30 ECTS credit points from the faculty's bachelor's program no later than the end of the 2nd semester. For this purpose, the University offers special Bridge Modules. It is highly recommended to conduct this “Bridge Semester“ as the first semester, even for students with a Bachelor’s degree with 210 ECTS credit points.

In the „Course Catalogue – Bridge modules“ the bridge modules are described in detail such as the duration, the lecturers, the work load, the learning outcomes, the content, hints for teaching material and notes on the examination. You can download the module handbook as PDF:
