About the KOMO

The Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule (OTH) Amberg-Weiden has maintained close contacts with partners in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) since it was founded, so that more than half of the partner universities are also in this region. In addition, a large number of regional companies have branches and partners in CEE, so that knowledge of a CEE language and regional competence is an interesting key competence for students as well. With funding from the Free State of Bavaria, an OTH AW Competence Center Bavaria - Central and Eastern Europe (KOMO) was set up in 2018 at the OTH Amberg-Weiden.

Against the background of internationalization, cross-border cooperation and labor markets, the competence center aims to strengthen the teaching of CEE languages, setting up a new study programs with a focus on Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), and supporting applied and academic research Exchange with partners from CEE. Its objective is to intensify existing scientific partnerships and networks and to train students accordingly.
