Because you will learn how people think, decide and act - and how to apply this knowledge in a targeted manner in business contexts.

Your degree programme will cover the basics of psychology, supplemented by economic topics. You will study consumer behaviour, market and advertising psychology, personnel psychology and change management. You will learn to apply empirical methods and analyse economic challenges from a psychological perspective.

Job opportunities

With your degree in Applied Business Psychology, many career paths are open to you. Thanks to the combination of psychological know-how and business expertise, you can work in almost any area of a company - especially where an understanding of behaviour, communication and decision-making processes is important.

Typical fields of work include human resources, marketing, organisational development, sales or personnel and management consulting. However, business psychologists are also in demand in market research, change management and employer branding.

Thanks to your interdisciplinary education, your social and intercultural skills and the combination of German and English as teaching languages, you are also ideally prepared for an international career. Your Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree will qualify you for specialist and management roles as well as for successful self-employment.

Structure

On the Bachelor's degree course in Applied Business Psychology, you will learn everything you need to understand and shape human behaviour in an economic context. You will attend courses on psychological and economic principles - for example social psychology, market and advertising psychology, personnel psychology or business administration. Statistics, research methods and empirical social research are also on your timetable.

You will gain valuable practical experience in application-oriented projects in which you will work on real issues together with your team - for example in the areas of recruitment, consumer behaviour or change management. You will learn how to systematically translate psychological knowledge into business decisions. You will also develop your personal skills in modules on communication, teamwork and academic work.

From the 4th semester onwards, you can specialise in one area. There is a choice:

  • Work and organisational psychology
  • Market and advertising psychology

In the sixth semester, you will apply your knowledge in a practical phase of at least 18 weeks directly in the company. And in the seventh semester, you will write your Bachelor's thesis - ideally on a practical issue from your chosen field.
