How does digital teaching work in educational institutions and companies? How is it implemented? What are the didactic, technological and organizational foundations for this? Career opportunities
The Educational Technology Master's program prepares students for a wide range of job market requirements in the fields of e-learning and educational technologies. Graduates can pursue a career in educational institutions such as schools and universities, in educational departments of companies, film, television, radio and media centers, in e-learning companies or in self-employment. You will work as a manager, media officer, designer of digitally supported teaching, developer of digital learning environments, producer of learning media as well as a coach and consultant. E-learning and educational technologies are and will remain high-turnover future markets with excellent career prospects for graduates of the program.
Concentration
The modules of the program focus on e-learning and educational technology in educational institutions as well as companies. By choosing modules respectively it is possible to set an individual focus on either of these fields.
Study models
Starting in the 2024/25 winter semester, you can also pursue the Master’s program in Educational Technology in a hybrid format. This means you decide for yourself whether to participate primarily online or in person—allowing you to flexibly adapt your studies to your professional and personal circumstances.
There are two mandatory on-campus weeks per semester. These give you the opportunity to get to know your fellow students and instructors in person and to collaborate intensively in practical learning scenarios.
All courses are streamed live, so you can participate from anywhere. In some cases, recordings are also available.
As a practice-oriented program, however, Educational Technology is designed around synchronous teaching formats, interactive collaboration, and exercises and internships. Active engagement therefore plays a key role in the program.

You can apply for a study place for the winter semester as well as for the summer semester.
Application dates
You can apply for studies from May 01 to July 15 (start for winter semester) and November 15 to January 15 (start for summer semester) each year via online application. If you would like to apply after July 15 or January 15 for the following winter semester or summer semester, please check in the applicant portal whether this is still possible or contact our course director or program coordination.
Admission requirements
You want to apply for the study program Educational Technology? The prerequisite for an application is a completed Bachelor's degree and the fulfillment of the qualification requirements listed in §5 of the study and examination regulations.
