Two models – one goal: practical training with added value
The dual degree program in Applied Business Informatics (B.Sc.) can be implemented through two proven models. Both offer your company the opportunity to develop professionals with both academic and practical qualifications—equipped with exactly the expertise you need.
Combined degree program = Bachelor's degree program + recognized vocational training (e.g., IHK/HWK)
Your dual-track students begin with a standard apprenticeship at your company and, after approximately 12–14 months, also start their studies at OTH Amberg-Weiden.
They remain employed at your company throughout the entire training period—up to and beyond the IHK/HWK examination.
Your benefits at a glance:
- Early integration into company processes
- High proportion of practical training throughout the entire program
- Ideal for existing training structures
Degree program with in-depth practical training = Degree program + intensive practical training phases during the program
This program emphasizes extensive practical work experience, particularly during breaks between semesters and during the internship semester. Vocational training is not included in this program—but this makes the transition to a specialist or management position after graduation particularly seamless.
Your benefits at a glance:
- High flexibility in program design
- Practical placements tailored to company needs
- Ideal for targeted professional development in specialized fields
Our goal: a win-win situation for both sides
We’ll help you choose the right model, navigate the formal process, and draft the contract. Even companies that haven’t partnered with us before can join at any time!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) from Businesses
In the Applied Business Informatics program, students acquire comprehensive skills in business, digitalization, and IT. Courses in areas such as process management, data analysis, software development, ERP systems, e-commerce, and AI specifically prepare them for practical tasks in the workplace. Through project work, the internship semester, and the bachelor’s thesis, your company can actively contribute to shaping the program’s academic focus.
The possible roles are diverse and depend on your areas of expertise and the students' interests. Typical responsibilities include:
- Collaboration on digitization or IT projects
- Data analysis and reporting
- Support with online marketing
- Process optimization using digital tools
- Working with ERP, CRM, or e-commerce systems
- Software testing or internal IT support
In the “Study with In-Depth Practical Training” program, theory and practical phases alternate systematically. Students spend time at your company, particularly during breaks between semesters and during the practical training semester (6th semester). We will coordinate the exact schedule with you—flexibly and with planning certainty.
You pay your dual-track students during their practical training periods at the company. Many companies base their pay on the training stipends set by collective bargaining agreements (e.g., 80–100% starting in the third semester). Payment is possible but not mandatory for theoretical phases at the university. We provide personalized advice and can also provide contract templates upon request.
You can either actively recruit new talent on your own or rely on our support. We’ll help you connect with interested students—through college fairs, applicant pools, our Career Service team, or online platforms. Students who are already enrolled can also join a dual degree program starting in their second semester.
Yes—you can join at any time.
