HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DEGREE PROGRAMME
The Industrial Engineering and Management degree programme at the OTH in Weiden is characterised by small study groups and thus the opportunity for intensive cooperation between students and lecturers.
The Faculty of Industrial Engineering is characterised by a personal environment, a lively partner network, international contacts and close proximity to important regional companies.
We attach great importance to a high degree of practical relevance in our degree programmes. Project work gives you the opportunity to answer and implement practical questions. Our students almost always write their final thesis in a company and thus make their first contacts with a potential employer.
The demand for our graduates remains high.
STRUCTURE & DOCUMENTS
The programme lasts 7 semesters, including a practical semester outside the university in industry. The first 4 semesters form the foundation course and teach the basics of mathematics, computer science, mechanical engineering, business administration and interdisciplinary subjects.
Practical relevance is a matter of course: in modern laboratories, through project work and excursions, you will deepen your knowledge directly using real-life examples.
From the 6th semester onwards, you choose your own specialisation. You can choose from the following specialisations:
- Digital product development
- Digitalisation in production and logistics
PRACTICAL REFERENCE
All of our professors come from industry and bring with them current topics from operational practice.
In modern, innovative laboratories, you can work in real, industry-related environments. We offer, for example, a factory based on SAP, in which robots automate production processes or logistics processes are optimised. In this learning environment, you can design and start many operational processes yourself. This will prepare you for the industry, where you can complete further practical projects or your final thesis in a productive environment.
We co-operate with all well-known companies in the northern Upper Palatinate.
WIGCares Programme
What is WIGCares?
WIGCares is a one-stop student support programme in the faculty of Industrial Engineering and Healthcare and aims to support all Year One students through counseling, guidance, preparatory courses, on boarding and mentoring. A fixed team of experienced students from all Bachelor programmes assist first and second semester students (and those interested in studying in a programme at the WIG faculty) with activities and support programmes like Rent-A-Student, Study-Buddies, informational events, study groups, intercultural activities and mentoring.
We aim to make the challenging transition from your country to our country and the jump from secondary school to university easier.
