Pilot projekt for waste separation at the OTH Amberg-Weiden

Dear students and staff,
On 08.04.2024 a pilot project for waste separation will start at the OTH Amberg-Weiden! This test phase will run until 05.05.2024. This measure is part of our environmental management system at OTH Amberg-Weiden and is being carried out together with the responsible university administration.
The aim is to test a new waste separation system. After evaluating the results and possible adjustments, the optimised separation system is to be introduced university-wide.
The following lecture halls have been selected for this:
Amberg: Lecture halls 202, 205, 219, 110 and Siemens Innovatorium in the building MBUT
Weiden: HSG Lecture hall 1, canteen, WTC corridor and in BW/WI in rooms 018, 220, 139
Waste garbage cans for residual waste, plastic and paper are set up there.
Waste separation serves to protect the environment, conserve resources and increase the recycling rate of our waste. All in all, this is another step towards reducing the burden on the environment at our university!

1. In the attachment you will find an overview of the various counseling and support services at the university, which you may already have learned about through other channels. If you receive an email from us in the next week regarding the progress of your studies, please don't be alarmed. However, you are more than welcome to make an appointment with us for a consultation - together we will certainly find a way to make the coming semester better for you.
2. we would also like to briefly introduce you to some categories on the notice board, which you are welcome to subscribe to if you would like to get information about our offers and events:
Scholarships: Here we provide information about current scholarship announcements, the application periods for the Deutschlandstipendium and planned information events on student financing. If you subscribe to this category, you will never miss an event.
Study-related course offerings: We regularly organize various additional courses for you, e.g. from the field of soft skills or an event week on application. If you want to stay up to date, subscribe to this category.
Events/ University Sports: This category provides you with information on events (at the university and beyond) that might be of interest to you as well as on sporting activities, e.g. the annual participation in the Nofi run.
!!! The Study and Career Service will no longer use the old category "All around studies" in the future, as the new categories can be subscribed to more specifically depending on your interests. So you will get exactly the information you are interested in!!!

Going abroad? Appointments for DAAD Language tests

If you have never attended and passed a language course at our OTH Amberg-Weiden or another university, our language centre offers the possibility to sit an English test twice per semester. Please not that these tests have no Credit Points and are only intended to help you realise a stay abroad (i.e. Erasmus).
The date for the DAAD English language test in the upcoming summer semester 2024 is:
- Wed., 27.03.2024 in Amberg from 9.00 Uhr room MB/UT E 024 and
- Thu., 25.04.2024 in Weiden from 10.00 Uhr room WTC 1.29

Einweihung Learning Hall

Liebe Studierende,
Liebe Mitglieder der Fachschaften EMI und MBUT,nach fast zweijähriger Umbauphase befindet sich die Learning Hall kurz vor der Fertigstellung. Daher ist es an der Zeit, Sie zur Inbetriebnahme am 27.03.2024 in Raum 206, Fakultät EMI, einzuladen.
Ab 12:30 Uhr wird der Raum für alle Studierenden der beiden Amberger Fakultäten geöffnet, nachdem der drittmittelfinanzierte Lernraum zuvor offiziell an die Fakultät EMI übergeben wurde. Zwischen 12:30 und 15:30 Uhr kann nach Herzenslust unter fachkundiger Begleitung ausprobiert und gearbeitet werden. Wir freuen uns über eine rege Beteiligung und Ihren Besuch.
Die Learning Hall ist als innovativer Raum für das individuelle Lernen mit digitalen Medien konzipiert und konnte durch Fördermittel der Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre an der Fakultät EMI realisiert werden. Sie steht als offener Lernort allen Studierenden zur Verfügung und lädt dazu ein, in einer konzentrierten Atmosphäre, eigenständig oder kollaborativ, an digitalem aber auch analogem Lernstoff zu arbeiten.
Kernstück des Konzepts bilden von der kabelgebundenen Strom- und LAN-Versorgung autarke Hochleistungs-Work-Stations. Zum Einsatz kommen hierfür leistungsstarke MacBook Pro, die durch einen externen Bildschirm, Tastatur und Maus ergänzt werden und die Learning Hall zum agilen PC-Pool machen. Audio- und Videobearbeitung, CAD-Anwendungen oder auch Simulationen im Bereich der Festigkeitsberechnung oder Fluidmechanik sind damit problemlos möglich. Die MacBooks sind jeweils in einen modernen, rollbaren, höhenverstellbaren, akkubetriebenen Arbeitsplatz integriert. Die Akkukapazität von rund 1000 Wh ist dabei auf einen rechnerintensiven, kabellosen Arbeitstag mit Multimediagestaltung, CAD oder (FEM-)Simulationen ausgelegt.
Der vollständige Verzicht auf eine Kabelanbindung ermöglicht es, die Work-Stations völlig frei den aktuellen Bedürfnissen angepasst und beliebig im Raum zu bewegen. Wie im Digitalen Klassenzimmer stehen den Studierenden auch in der Learning Hall Lerninseln und mobile Stühle mit Tablar zur Verfügung. Sowohl selbst mitgebrachte Devices wie auch die Arbeitsplätze können mit den Gruppenbildschirmen der Lerninseln verbunden werden und bieten Raum zum gemeinsamen Arbeiten. Daneben bieten zwei Einzelkojen mit externen Bildschirmen Rückzugsmöglichkeiten für das individuelle Lernen. Abgerundet wird die Learning Hall durch den sog. „Collaboration Space“. Dieser per Schallschutzvorhang abtrennbare Besprechungsbereich ist für Besprechungen und Gruppenarbeiten vorgesehen. Hierfür stehen mobile Stühle, ein großzügiger mobiler Besprechungstisch, ein Gruppenbildschirm und ein mobiles SMART-Board zur Verfügung. Über ein ebenfalls vorhandenes Videokonferenzsystem können die Studierenden mit weiteren Personen oder Teams an anderen Standorten in Verbindung treten und sich austauschen.

Here we go again... All members of OTH Amberg-Weiden are invited to lace up their running shoes and get ready for the NOFI-Lauf on May 8...
Dear students,
here we go again again! On May 8, the 12th Nordoberpfälzer Firmenlauf (NOFI-Lauf) will start at 6:30 pm in Neustadt a.d. WN. (about 10 km from Weiden). The university will once again be taking part with a large team of runners - 100 starting places have already been booked! Professors, staff and students will take to the course together... The registration form can be found here - if you need more information about the run, you will find it here.
We look forward to meeting as many of you as possible in Neustadt on May 8!

Plotter orders
Students can pay to have large-format drawings or posters required for their studies printed out on the plotter in the MBUT faculty (room 103).
In the past, requests in this regard have been received in a rather unstructured manner, which has occasionally delayed the processing time.
