For those of you, who have only little knowledge of German, we have some good news!

Together with the VHS, we are able to offer three levels of beginners' German courses at the vhs in Weiden.

It only makes sense chosing one of these three courses, i.e. the one that corresponds to your level of German.

    The vhs offers A1.1, A1.2 and A2.1
The vhs courses are a special offer for IB students, who do not have A2 knowledge of German and are hence not able to complete their immatriculation with proof of A2 yet.

There is only a limited number of places. So first come, first serve.

    - The courses take place at the the vhs Weiden-Neustadt (Luitpoldstraße 24, Weiden)

    - For course times see below (these courses are presence only, please check your IB study timetable first before you register https://www.oth-aw.de/files/oth-aw/Studiengaenge/Bachelor/IB/Dokumente/Stundenplan_IB.pdf)

    - registration is available now and takes place externally at the vhs via the link provided in this email below

    - a registration fee of 100,- € along with a minimum 75% attendence is required. This registration fee will be reimbursed to those who fulfilled the attendance requirement

    - please do not register if you are unable to attend the lectures regularly and on time, no latecomers will be admitted.

    - please note that this is a supportive offer and that the vhs courses cannot be accredited, nor are they worth any credits and please note that you still need to complete your immatriculation by handing in proof of A2 knowledge

In order to register for the courses (one only) at VHS Weiden, please select one course and register via the link with the course:

  • Impairment of exam participation due to strikes on Monday, February 2, 2026

    Study office

    Concerns/Category:

    • All courses

    Dear Students,

warning strikes in local public transport have been announced for Monday, February 2, 2026, but no further details have been provided. If you are affected by this, the following key points apply:

    1. All examinations will take place as scheduled according to the examination schedule.

    2. Students who do not attend the exam due to the strike (force majeure) will not be disadvantaged (no exam attempt, no effect of deadlines). However, affected students must submit an application with proof to the Examination Office.

    3. For students who arrive late due to the strike (force majeure), it is up to the examiners to decide on a case-by-case basis. It may be possible for them to take the exam during the remaining exam time. Under certain circumstances, the exam time can also be adjusted for the students affected, provided that this does not cause any further implications (room occupancy, disruption of the exam, etc.). Or, in the case of exams with two consecutive time slots, participation in the later group may be considered, for example.

    4. There is no entitlement to an alternative date.
