RISE: 7th Bavarian-Czech Innovation Day

This year marks the 7th edition of the Bavarian-Czech Innovation Day, held under the motto “Two Regions. One Future.”
The event focuses on visionary ideas and forward-looking collaboration between Bavaria and the Czech Republic. In addition to inspiring keynote speeches, participants will have the opportunity to present their own startups in a 5-minute pitch and win prizes. The Innovation Day will be interpreted into German and Czech.
When? Wednesday, September 30, 2026, 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Where? TechTower Pilsen (Koterovská 2827/152, 326 00 Plzeň 2-Slovany)
Who? Anyone interested in Bavarian-Czech cooperation or involved in related projects.
Innovation Day is a gathering for decision-makers from the business community and representatives from academia, offering a platform to exchange professional insights on current topics, make new contacts, and forge partnerships. The goal is to work with leading figures from business, academia, and politics to set the course for a sustainable and thriving economy in the shared region.
Highlights include several keynote speeches by Bavarian and Czech experts. For example, Jan Siebert (founder and CEO, tomorrow web GmbH) and Marco Schmid (CEO | schmid und kreative, brand and cultural developer). Or Martin Jiránek (Chairman of the Czech Startup Association, Startup Representative at the Ministry of Industry and Trade) and Jan Kavalírek (AI Representative for the Industry and Transport Association, CEE AI Ambassador).
There is still a waiting list for the pitch competition: The competition offers the chance to present your startup in a 5-minute pitch to leading experts and potential customers. In addition to networking opportunities and visibility, the prize includes a €750 gift certificate from the electronics retailer K+B and exclusive access to the Silicon Valley Program at Campus Kemnath.

Sie stehen kurz vor dem Abschluss eines Bachelorstudiums mit technischen, betriebswirtschaftlichen und integrativen Inhalten und sind noch unsicher ob Sie entweder ein Masterstudium anschließen oder direkt eine berufspraktische Tätigkeit aufnehmen sollen ? Aber warum „entweder … oder …“ und nicht „sowohl … als auch …“ ? Der Masterstudiengang „Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen - Digital Engineering & Management“ (MWI) wird auch im Teilzeit-Modell angeboten. Dadurch können Sie Ihren Workload pro Semester deutlich reduzieren und parallel z.B. intensiv als Werkstudent/in arbeiten. Und eventuell ergibt sich aus Ihrer berufspraktischen Tätigkeit ja sogar ein passendes Thema für ein sog. Praxisprojekt (kann eines von vier Wahlpflichtmodulen ersetzen) und/oder die Abschlussarbeit. I am currently developing a digital solution for psychiatric clinics and psychosocial facilities.

Important information about 24h-access to the library
Due to popular demand, here is all the information about 24-hour access to the library once again:
- You must complete a one-time training session to gain 24-hour access.- This training session takes place at the beginning of every semester and lasts one hour.
- Haven’t completed the training yet but want access now during exam time?
Please stop by the library and schedule an appointment with us. Make sure to allow plenty of time—at least 1 hour!- We can’t promise that you’ll be able to start the training right away when you talk to us.
- It is not enough to simply tell the library staff that you have already completed this training. We keep participant lists and can verify whether you have actually completed it. Please be honest with us.
- Training sessions offered through the library’s Moodle course are unrelated to this training. These sessions are intended to help you prepare for your bachelor’s thesis and do not count as training for 24-hour access.

As part of my doctoral research, I’m developing an innovative measurement system for industrial applications. The technical foundation is in place, and initial development work is underway. The application portal for the Deutschlandstipendium is now open for the upcoming funding year (October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027). Application period will close on August 9.
All students who will still be within the standard period of study during the 2026/27 winter semester (typically 7 semesters for a bachelor’s degree and 3 semesters for a master’s degree) are eligible to apply.

Über Generationen hinweg hat die Sendung Zuschauerinnen und Zuschauer geprägt und Fernsehgeschichte geschrieben.
In diesem Vortrag werfen wir einen kleinen Blick hinter die Kulissen.
Aus der Perspektive von Ton-Postproduktion und Mischung beleuchten wir die kreativen und technischen Herausforderungen

The library will soon be switching to a new IT system. As a result, users will face some restrictions on interlibrary loan services.
1. If you need to order interlibrary loans from other libraries in the near future, please place your orders as soon as possible. The last day to place an order is June 10th, 2026, only one day from now! After that, interlibrary loan requests for books will not be processed again until early September.
2. Loan periods for books from other libraries can be granted until July 24, 2026, at the latest. No exceptions will be made. Late returns will result in fees.
3. NOT affected are: Orders for journal articles through our Articles via Interlibrary Loan service, Books available locally in Amberg and Weiden.Need help with your literature research?

Damage in Seminar Room 242 – A call for attention and responsibility

Dear students,
It was with great shock and disbelief that we discovered the extensive damage in Seminar Room 242 on Thursday morning. Three tables have been destroyed; the room has been left in a state that has left us deeply concerned.
You will find some pictures of the tables in the attachement!
We have never before witnessed such a level of destruction and disrespect towards shared spaces at our university.
Even though the perpetrators are currently unknown, the consequences affect us all: damaged furniture, unsightly study and work spaces, broken equipment – and, in the worst case, restrictions on the free use of seminar and common rooms. Spaces such as lecture theatres, the library, the canteen or the Orange Lounge depend on being used responsibly and with trust.
We are talking here about our university. That is why we ask you: do not look the other way if you observe wilful damage, vandalism or disrespectful behaviour towards rooms and equipment. Please speak to us or the university management if you notice anything.
Of course, things can sometimes be damaged accidentally. That is annoying, but no big deal if it is dealt with openly. In such cases too, please do get in touch.
We are counting on your support. Let us work together to ensure that our university remains a place where we enjoy learning, working and coming together.

The preliminary exam schedules for the WIG Faculty are now available online on the homepage. The lecture halls will be listed as soon as the exam registration period ends.
Please note:
• No grade will be issued without exam registration!
This also applies to make-up exams or courses in which assessments take place during the semester.
• Any exam schedule conflicts must be reported to Ms. Bäuml (a.baeuml@oth-aw.de) by June 5, 2026, at the latest.
• In individual cases, schedule changes may still occur, which will be noted in the exam schedule. Please pay attention to the updates!
• Due to the high number of participants, some exams (especially those in computer labs) must be held in multiple sessions. Please follow the examiners’ instructions and keep an eye on updates to the exam schedules, and make sure to allow plenty of time.
• Please refer to the attached general rules of the WIG Faculty regarding exam procedures.
